Mission Trip to Mexico!!!

My first mission trip ever... it was really great! We went to El Paso Texas to an organization called Bearing Precious Seed. From this home base we took trips down into Juarez Mexico to hold evangelistic meetings and pass out tracts. At the meetings we would have songs and puppets for the kids and then the message for the adults with a chalk drawing that went along with what the pastor was saying (and he talked so fast and furiously that he barely had time to breathe!).

It was really exciting to have a chance to practically use the Spanish I have been studying. The first Sunday we were there our group went to the evening service at a new Mexican church. The church was made of pallets and very small but it was real and they were reaching the people in their area for Christ. During the service I and some of my friends got to sing a special - we did Amazing Grace with verses 1 and 4 in English and verses 2-3 in Spanish. After the service I was able to visit a little bit with some of the people from the church! It was the very first time I had ever spoken with someone whose only language was Spanish. I was able (by God's grace) to reach out and bridge the gap between our two worlds!

God's grace was sufficient that week... He was with me as I ministered to young and old and even got the opportunity to kind of play "girls counselor" to some of the young ladies from another group. God can use you even if you don't think you are ready for something!

Another main event of the week was working in the print shop! This was a great opportunity to help out BPS in their work of printing the Bible and other evangelistic materials. I was privileged to get to work on collating entire Spanish Bibles. It was another step in getting the Word of God to the people in Mexico!

Overall I was encouraged to be more active with sharing Christ. Knocking on doors and talking with people is not that difficult and I need to take advantage of every opportunity God brings - since I have the most important news I had better not hesitate to share it! Someone’s future (and not just for here on earth) is at stake.

The last couple of pictures are of shopping in the Mexican market and eating out in El Paso our last night!
