Miscellany 2

So! About the biology CLEP. Well, you might know that Sarah and I took and passed U.S. History I a few weeks ago. But BIOLOGY??? The study of life? Are sponges even alive? (JK. Hehe.) Needless to say, I didn't know the first thing about biology. So, I behaved like the proverbial ostrich, and stuck my head in the sand and said LalalalLALAALALA - if I don't study I won't have to take the test. HA! Six days before that fateful day Sarah looked me in the eye and said 'Abby, time to kick it into high gear.' I must've looked a little kooky because she laughed and said 'nothing but biology until the test is done okay?' I heard myself agree. Whew. Thank the Lord for Cliffnotes (that's probably TM btw.)

The next morning I got up at 0500 and, after devotions, started poring over the biology book as if my life depended upon it. I kept reading all through errands and Sarah's piano lesson, and then studied at the C's until 2217 that night! The days ticked down, until, on Sunday, the master came over to help us with mieosis and mitosis, and the light phase of photosynthesis. As Sarah answered question after question I felt my pupils dilate and my palms grow sweaty. OH no! I couldn't remember what part of the brain was even stimulating these strange responses to the glare of the brilliant one. AHHH! And then... I KNEW THE ANSWER! YES! DNA replication occurs during the S PHASE!! (which occurs between the G1 and G2 phase - which occur during interphase - which occurs before MITOSIS!) WHOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

We took the test Monday morning. I was so nervous I thought I would toss my cookies. But, I held them down. In the parking lot at IHCC we did a quick review. Thyroid, norepinephrine, ectoderm, epiglottis... the words swam before my eyes.

We went in.

We took the test.

We both passed.

We beat a hasty retreat away from that torture they call testing and shopped until we dropped. YEEHAW!

And now I'm ill. (Just thought you might want to know why this is so crazed. *deranged giggle*)

Oh those happy times! Making wonderful memories with my deranged biology partner.

Illness has something to do with your derangement? Hmm... Congrats, by the way.

Why thank you. *considers comment* I guess I'm just a little MORE crazy when I'm sick. Or at least a litle more scatterbrained!
